WRX – pech voor Hoonigan Racing Team in Barcelona

Vroegtijdig eind aan wat een geweldige ronde voor Ken Block had kunnen zijn in de 2016 WRX in Barcelona – Spanje, maar transmissie problemen kreeg en moest worden afgesleept, jammer.

Andreas Bakkerud z’n laatste ronde in de Semi Finale 2 zag er goed uit en eindigde uiteindelijk als 5e. Waarschijnlijk baalt hij enorm, want normaal smijt hij constant met foto’s & commentaar tussen de races door, ook een officieel evaluatie van de wedstrijd blijft uit.

Na 9 rondes staat Bakkerud 4e met 170 punten, ‘The Boss man’ Ken Block, zoals Bakkerud hem altijd noemt, moet het doen met een 14e notering op deze ranglijst en helaas maar 54 punten. Voor Bakkerud liggen er met nog 3 races te gaan redelijke kansen, te weten dat de nr. 1 van dit moment Mattias Ekstrom met z’n Audi S1 204 punten in de pocket heeft.

Damn, this was my worst-luck race weekend of this season here at #BarcelonaRX! Which is extra disappointing, because I had good speed in practice both days (7th fastest on day 1 and 4th fastest in day 2). Unfortunately I got shoved sideways into turn one of Q1, had a broken transmission in Q3, and had terrible wet dirt conditions in Q4 – which I won my race but it wasn’t good enough to bring me back into Semi Final position. Oh well, that’s racing.
