GREAT start today for our new Ford Focus RS RX racecar! My Hoonigan Racing teammate Andreas Bakkerud started off the morning with the fastest time for most of practice (and ended up 3rd fastest in the end), then he won his first Q1 race! First place in the first Qualifying race for the new car – in its first ever attempt! Awesome. He did well in Q2 after that, and is currently in 4th overall.
Congrats to Ford Performance and M-Sport on building a great new racecar right out the box!

I had some troubles today. The Ford Focus RS RX felt good today during practice, and I was getting to grips with both the car and a track that I’ve never driven before. I was leading my Qualifying 1 race, but then a software glitch caused my car to be stuck at 100% throttle as I was trying to brake into a corner. Sooooo sketchy – I had to lock all four wheels which sent me off the track and into a bank. That REALLY sucked.

Then in my Qualifying 2 race I was in the only group that ran in the wet, so my overall times are down right now. But, at least Andreas was able to prove the cars’ capabilities and have success for the team and Ford today in a big way. Stoked to see what we can do tomorrow in Q3 and Q4 and hopefully get into the finals!
